Amazing Andalus

The south of Spain was once the vibrant center of one of the world’s most brilliant civilizations. Today, it’s once again home to a burgeoning Muslim community with a fresh perspective on religion in the West and the world. Queen City Diwan joins with Travel Safina to connect us to each other, to our history and heritage, and to our place in the world.
With Amazing Andalus, we’ll uncover the past, meet the present and imagine the future. Our journey covers Seville, Cordoba, Granada and beyond, diving deep into faith, poetry, and design–as well as magical mountains, surreal and secluded retreats, and delicious food. Open to travelers of all ages and backgrounds, this trip is led by our own Haroon Moghul.

We’re excited to introduce our newest program, exclusively for college students aged 18-22 who want to unlock their potential, grow their perspective, and do more than see the world: They want to change the world.
In the mountains of southern Spain, a select group of students will experience a unique kind of leadership. We’ll explore remarkable history, learn with brilliant scholars and creators, and build a community with like-minded leaders from across the United States–and beyond.
Designed and led by Haroon Moghul, our retreat will also feature expert mentors accompanying the group throughout our days in Spain. Admitted students will see the past, learn about Spain today, and benefit from vital professional, personal and spiritual development sessions.
Over our time together, we’ll pursue questions like
- What explains the rise and fall of the old Muslim world?
- What unique lessons can we take from Muslim Spain into our lives?
- Why have Muslim communities today struggled to translate their numbers into meaningful impact?
- How can young Muslims balance faith and career, beliefs and belonging?
- How does Islam help us build strength, resilience and perspective?
- How can American and Western Muslims do more to enrich and empower our societies?
- What professional skills and insights can help young Muslims realize their career potential?
- How should young men and women think about the biggest decisions in their lives and make better choices that honor their potential and purpose?
